About this race
The Glenbeigh Glencar Marathon is a challenging and scenic road race organised by Glenbeigh Glencar GAA Club and Star of the Laune AC as part of the Glenbeigh Summer Festival in County Kerry. The marathon starts at the Climbers Inn in Glencar and follows a looped route through the mountains of Glenbeigh, finishing at Glenbeigh Glencar GAA pitch. The course takes runners through one of the most spectacular landscapes in Ireland, passing near Caragh Lake and through the valleys and mountain roads surrounding Glenbeigh village. It is a hilly and demanding course with significant climbing through the Kerry uplands. The marathon is officially measured in line with Athletics Ireland requirements. A shuttle bus operates from Glenbeigh GAA pitch to the start line. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers.
