About RaceRoutes

Built by a runner, for the running community.

Why I built this

Like many runners in Ireland, I love signing up for local road races. But I noticed a recurring frustration — while event registration is usually easy, finding a detailed course map with an elevation profile is often surprisingly difficult.

I wanted to know: how steep is that hill at the 3km mark? Is the finish line on a fast flat? What does the route actually look like?

That information is often buried in old Facebook posts, blurry photos of maps, or fragmented GPS traces. I built RaceRoutes to be the one-stop resource that brings it all together in a clean, consistent, easy-to-read format.

The Goal

RaceRoutes is designed to be a definitive resource for Irish road racing. The goal is to give runners the insights they need to prepare properly — from local 5ks to major marathons across the country.

  • Accurate maps — verified routes so you can visualise the race before you're on the start line
  • Elevation data — detailed profiles to help you pace your effort
  • Difficulty grading — flat, undulating, hilly, very hilly — so you know what you're getting into
  • Mobile optimised — access course details instantly on your phone at the race car park

Accuracy & Community

This project is built by a runner, for the running community. While every effort is made to ensure each map is precise, courses can evolve and GPS data isn't always perfect.

If you represent a race and want to update your course information, or if you spotted a discrepancy, please use the link below to help keep this resource accurate for everyone.

Help keep the data accurate — submit a correction if you spot anything wrong.
