The Abbeyknockmoy Hurling Club Half Marathon is one of three distances in the inaugural multi-distance road race event in Abbeyknockmoy, County Galway, on 12 July 2026. The half marathon follows a newly created route through the rural roads of the north Galway countryside, an area of gently rolling farmland surrounding the village of Abbeyknockmoy, near the ancient ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey. The course is chip timed, professionally measured, and holds an Athletics Ireland permit. Starting at 10:00am, it is timed to serve as an ideal mid-season benchmark for runners targeting an autumn race. Prizes are awarded across all distance categories and finishers receive a medal and post-race refreshments. The event is organised by Abbeyknockmoy Hurling Club as a community fundraiser and aims to attract a strong field from across the Connacht region.
