Abbeyknockmoy Hurling Club 5k 2026

The Abbeyknockmoy Hurling Club 5k is the inaugural edition of a new multi-distance road race event in Abbeyknockmoy village, County Galway, held on 12 July 2026. The 5k course follows the established route used in the Galway 5k Race Series and runs through the rural roads of the north Galway countryside surrounding this historic village, home to the ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey. The course is chip timed, professionally measured, and certified under an Athletics Ireland permit. It is suitable for runners of all abilities and is designed to provide an opportunity for personal bests. Prizes are awarded across all distances, and finishers receive a medal and post-race refreshments. The event is organised by Abbeyknockmoy Hurling Club as a fundraiser and community occasion, with the 10k and half marathon offering new routes on the day.
