The Galway 5K Series is a long-running county-wide initiative now in its twentieth year, featuring six races over six consecutive Tuesday evenings across different Galway locations. The Claregalway leg opens the 2026 series on 21 April. The 5k course follows a loop on local roads in and around Claregalway village. The format is simple and no-frills, with no prizes awarded but all series finishers receiving a souvenir race t-shirt. One race number covers the entire series. All proceeds go to fund juvenile and adult athletics across Galway. The event is chip timed and open to runners of all levels.
