Description
The Westport 10k begins on the Roman Island slip road at Westport Quay, offering participants immediate and stunning views across Clew Bay. The scenic loop guides runners through the heart of the quay before transitioning onto the historic Westport Railway Walk, a charming off-road path that heads toward the town. Participants then follow a dedicated walkway adjacent to the Louisburgh Road, showcasing spectacular vistas of Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s holy mountain. After passing Aughavale Cemetery and navigating the rural lanes of Belclare and Rosbeg, the course returns to the coast with the waters of the bay to the left. The terrain is primarily composed of smooth tarmac and paved paths, featuring a fast profile with honest undulating sections.
