About this race

The Navvy Bank 5k is a flat, fast road race held in the Quay area of Dundalk, County Louth, organised by Seán O'Mahony's club and North East Runners AC. The course starts and finishes near the entrance to the Seán O'Mahony's GAA pitch, beside the Navvy Bank on the shore of the Castletown River estuary. Runners head out of Mountain View, turning right onto the Point Road, where at approximately the 600m mark, they make a U-turn, before going back down the Point Road, the full way to Soldiers' Point. The route then loops around the historic Navvy Bank, a tarmac embankment walkway dating from the 1840s, which hugs the waterside with sweeping views across Dundalk Bay towards the Cooley Mountains. Run almost entirely on level tarmac with negligible elevation change, it is ideal for runners chasing a personal best, finishing back at the club grounds.
