Description
The Inis Iron Meáin 10k takes place on the roads of Inis Meáin, the middle Aran Island in County Galway. The race starts at Halla Naomh Eoin and follows the island's roads for approximately 10.5km, taking runners on a large circuit through the island's interior and along its dramatic Atlantic coastline. The course features a steep incline in the opening 0.5km, then continues over undulating island roads with varied terrain and sweeping scenic views. The route is well marked at every kilometre. A more challenging 12km variant incorporates a beach run along Ceann Gainnimh. The event raises funds for Coláiste Naomh Eoin and is one of Ireland's most distinctive road races. Participants receive a goody bag and a ticket to the post-race barbecue buffet.
