The Ardgillan parkrun begins at the back of the historic Ardgillan Castle and finishes at the front gate, offering a spectacular 5k route through the sprawling castle demesne. The scenic two-lap course leads participants downhill past the vibrant rose gardens and through wooded trails that open up to breathtaking views of the Irish Sea. Along the route, runners can spot the Mourne Mountains in the distance and the passing Dublin-Belfast express train along the edge of the park. The terrain is a varied mix of trail paths, grass, and asphalt, defined by rolling hills and a challenging uphill finish back toward the castle.
